PetSmart Charities® of Canada
We create and support programs that save the lives of homeless pets, raise awareness of companion animal-welfare issues and promote healthy relationships between people and pets.
Since 1999, PetSmart Charities® of Canada has granted more than $3.7 million to animal welfare agencies and, through its in-store pet adoption program, has helped save the lives of more than 145,000 pets.

How to Help
We have many ways for you to help us to save the lives of homeless pets. From supporting promotions to simply sending a free e-card to a friend that also informs them about the work of PetSmart Charities. Learn about all of the ways you can make difference.
Adoptions
Our Adoption Program offers animal-welfare organizations the chance to showcase adoptable pets in PetSmart® stores throughout Canada.
As an Adoption Partner, you receive these benefits:
- Your adoptable pets are seen by thousands of PetSmart® customers.
- Your agency receives Adoption Reward funding for each pet adopted through the PetSmart Charities Adoption Center, which help to offset your expenses.
Spay/Neuter
We partner with animal-welfare organizations in Canada to support their efforts to end homeless-pet overpopulation. Although adoptions are a critical part of the solution, this problem cannot be solved by adoptions alone. Addressing the root cause of too many unwanted pets will require systemic change. Spay and neuter saves lives. It's that simple. Learn more about our spay/neuter initiatives.
Emergency Relief
PetSmart Charities provides emergency relief funding and supplies to nonprofit, law-enforcement or governmental agencies to assist pets in three different types of situations:
- Large-scale disasters (e.g. hurricanes, fire and other natural catastrophes)
- Multiple animal rescue, man-made disasters
- One-animal victim of abuse/violence
Please note: We do not provide emergency relief assistance to individuals.
Grants
We have grant funding available each year for organizations across Canada:
- Nonprofit animal-welfare agencies
- Municipal animal care and control agencies
- First Nations authorities
Our current grant programs focus on spay/neuter efforts. It is not necessary for your agency to be a PetSmart Charities Adoption Partner to be considered for funding.
