When We First Met....

My boyfriend and I went to PetSmart and a lady from the rescue was holding an adorable Aussie/Collie-mix pup. We were immediately drawn to him. I held out my hand for the pup to smell it and just as the lady started to warn me not to, he began to lick my hand. Pleasantly surprised, the lady put the dog on the ground and the pup walked over and plopped down into my boyfriend's lap. There was an immediate connection made right there as the two wrestled on the ground happily. The lady told us he had just been abandoned at the store not even 30 minutes before. He had thrown a little fit at the initial separation, biting people who tried to come near him in obvious fear. He was wearing a harness that was so tight, it was partially embedded into his skin! Two months went by and he never left our minds. We made the appropriate preparations and then we brought him home. Since then he has learned to sit, stay, roll-over, play dead, crawl, speak, dance, shake, and high-five. The lady from the rescue has said many times that, without us, he would not be the same dog. Because he was 6 months old when we picked him up and wasn't trained at all (not even housetrained), it would have been very hard to find him a home. In the last month he has moved to my boyfriend's new house which has a great big yard for his high energy needs. Russell is now living the dream with an awesome lifestyle, great friends, and of course, a loving family. Together, our lives will never be the same.
