I was living in Washington and was about to transfer to Alabama for my job. I had a wonderful dog, a redbone coondhound mix, who I had adopted from a shelter. My thought was to find Reba a friend, another redbone in Alabama. I found one in Brewton, Alabama, and when I saw her very sad face and heard her sad story (she was found emaciated as a stray and had been living in the shelter for 8 months) I understood why the shelter workers were trying hard to place this lovely dog. They named her "Blossom" because she had blossomed from a sad, straggly dog to a beautiful redbone. I told them to please hold her for me and they did. When I arrived in Alabama, I was determined to buy my first home and after a month, I found my dream home. Before closing, I visited Blossom, one look into her big brown eyes and I was a gonner. I told them I'd be back after closing on my house. Meanwhile, she was spayed and the next week I was back. It was worth the wait and the trip!
