Along the Road

In 2004, I was driving school buses and was heading from my elementary school to my middle school (on a very busy and dangerous road) and I witness someone throw something out of their Lexus in front of a veterinarian's office. I went around the block and parked the bus. I crossed the street to find this tiny puppy (a chihuahua) who couldn't have been but 4-5 weeks old. I picked her up and went back to my bus, continued on to the middle school, did my route, then took her to PAWS. At that time they didn't have the staff to watch over a puppy that small. However they checked her out medically and said that she seemed fine. Then they asked if could I please keep her for the week-end and bring her back in on Monday. Well, here it is 2008 and that Monday has never come. Lexas (Lexie) is and has been a part of our family ever since.
