For the Love of Codie

For the Love of CodieWe saw our Codie At the Anti Cruelty Soceity and went back to get her at a Petsmart in Broadview, IL. She was very thin, had worms and patches of hair missing, but parenting dogs all my life I knew that this "collie mix" would turn into a beautiful girl with some good vet care, love and healthy food. I started feeding her dry and canned Iams puppy food even though she was almost a year old. She got Filarbits to kill the worms, and brushing, walks, and tons of hugs and kisses everyday.

From the first night she seemed to settle in, she got into her fluffy bed and went to sleep. I didn't know her past but she seemed leary of men, although she is now my husband's princess. She just seemed to know that she belonged with us!! It is ten years later and she is getting a bit grey on her muzzle, and she is all white and still quite beautiful!! She is not the same skinny, sick dog that jumped into our truck that day in April 1998!! We love her more then anything and she was even accepting of the baby boy I had who is now almost two. They are best friends, but I'm not one of those women who trades one baby for another. They are both here to stay forever! I will ALWAYS have a dog and when the time comes I'll be back to your door to take home another baby!! Dogs should be apart of the family and she is never far from us, even goes on vaction with us. She is a wonderful blessing to our lives and her devotion, protection and love are a gift!! And I know she enjoys laying on the couch looking out the window most of the day, after her breakfast and walk. I'm blessed to be home with her during the day. Thank you for a wonderful dog!! Keep up the wonderful work you do!!
