My husband and I had been wanting to adopt a puppy for years. We'd just gotten married in April 2009 and moved to Denver in August 2009. We finally had a little backyard and it was time to get a dog! One month later, we saw an advertisement for PetSmart Charities'® Second Chance for Love Adoption Event where thousands of dogs were going to be waiting for their chance to be adopted. We knew we had to go! As we were waiting outside of the building for the event to open, a PetSmart® store associate brought this tiny fawn colored puppy out of the event to go potty on the grass before it started. We both just watched her the whole time and asked to pet her on their way back into the adoption event.

I honestly knew from the second we started petting her that my husband was in love and we wouldn't be leaving with any other dog! We pretended like we needed to check out our other options, but in reality, as soon as the adoption event doors opened, we booked it to where her kennel was! We spent a few minutes with her, and we knew she was meant to be our first baby!

Penny keeps me sane! I am such a stressed out grad student, but she is always there to make me take a break and get some relaxing walk or snuggle time in. She is so loving and I have never in my life felt this important to anyone. She clearly loves being my baby. She loves to play, and I can just watch her play forever. She especially loves to play in the snow!

I am just so thankful we adopted our little Penny. She is so sweet, and I am glad we saved the life of a dog who did not have a family. I encourage you to do the same!
