This Privacy Policy describes the information, privacy and security practices for the URL http://www.petsmartcharities.org (the “Site”) and certain other communications sent out by PetSmart Charities, Inc. We understand and respect your privacy. When you may visit the PetSmart Charities Site, you may browse our Site without telling us who you are or revealing any identifying information. However, because our web site may include areas in which visitors can provide personally identifying information, we may ask you to provide personal information and to select a password of your own choice to help keep personal information secure. We may use your registration information to help make your experience quicker and easier, by pre-filling certain parts of your information.

We collect your personal information when you adopt a pet through PetSmart Charities’ partnership with PetSmart, Inc. store adoption program; make a donation; enter a contest or sweepstake; sign up for our newsletters; participate in a PetSmart Charities program or survey; participate in programs offered by certain partners of PetSmart Charities; and provide us with comments or suggestions. We may use your personal information to better assist you when you contact us again and to send you information related to PetSmart Charities services, programs, news, and partners. We may do this by including regular mail, by e-mail, by telephone, and with general communications (collectively "Communications"). Every recipient of our Communications can quickly and easily “opt-out" of future Communications by following the instructions in this Policy or included with the Communication. Unless you "opt-out," we may send you Communications in the future.

When participating in interactive services through our Site, if you register for an online account or for any online offers or services, we may ask you to provide personal information and to select a password of your own choice to help keep personal information secure. If you register for any such online account, the personal information you provide will be added to our database and may be used to send future Communications to you unless you specifically “opt-out”.

When you make donations we will collect your name, mailing address, phone number, e-mail address and billing information, as well as credit/debit card information. This information enables us to contact you in the event of processing difficulties, verify or respond to your inquiries, and deliver services and information about PetSmart Charities to you. If you make a donation or inquiry through our Site, the personal information you provide will be added to our database (but never your credit/debit card information). Our database may be used to send future Communications to you unless you specifically “opt-out”.

When using a blog or community forum site provided by or associated with PetSmart Charities, in addition to the terms and conditions of use and other service terms that may appear throughout the site, you agree that PetSmart Charities does not control material delivered and posted to such Internet bulletin boards, in chat rooms, on blogs, and in forums. When participating in other PetSmart Charities activities, such as entering a contest or sweepstake, registering for programs, or participating in a survey, or when you contact PetSmart Charities with a question or concern, we may ask you to provide your name, physical address, phone number, e-mail address and other information about yourself and your pets to administer the activity and deliver Communications to you. We may share your personal information with carefully selected third-party service providers in order to provide services to you. Such services may include: processing donations, payments, and registrations, customer, service, conduct surveys, provide Communications, monitor Site activity, maintain our database, or to administer other PetSmart Charities programs, contests or drawings. These service providers are prohibited from using your personal information for any purpose other than providing services for PetSmart Charities.

PetSmart Charities uses web technologies to gather navigational information about our Site and technical efficiencies and services, such as time to connect to our Site and download pages. If we are currently using your personal information to send you Communications and you want to change your options, you can “opt-out” at any time using the following directions. You may also use these directions to change your personal information in our donor database and to ask us to stop providing your personally-identifiable information to our carefully selected third-party service providers, as identified in this Policy.

If you send us an e-mail or letter, please be sure to include your full name, address, phone number and e-mail address and indicate specifically what type of Communications you wish to stop receiving along with the specific e-mail address in our donor or newsletter database to be removed from the mailing list. This will ensure we identify you correctly in our systems so that we may accurately process your “opt-out” request.

Due to production and mailing timelines, it may take up to ten (10) business days for email and up to six (6) weeks for direct mail to make the requested change. Until then, you may still receive Communications, and we apologize for any inconvenience.
Please note that you may continue to receive business-related communications, such as donation confirmations and other administrative communications. You cannot “opt-out” of these business-related communications which are necessary to fulfill services.

SECURITY OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
PetSmart Charities strives to maintain internal controls and procedures to ensure that the personal information you share with us is handled in a safe, secure and responsible manner. We have security measures in place to help protect against loss, unauthorized access, and alteration of the information in our control. We will only disclose such information to employees and authorized service providers who require such information for the purposes described in this Policy.

PetSmart Charities' databases are protected by physical, technical, and procedural measures that restrict information access to authorized persons in accordance with this Policy. Although no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed 100% secure, and we cannot ensure against any loss, misuse, unauthorized disclosure, alteration, or destruction of data, we take reasonable precautions to prevent such unfortunate occurrences. Our information systems are maintained behind a firewall to isolate them from access by other networks connected to the Internet, and access to personally-identifiable information is granted only to associates who need the information to perform a specific job.

Because your credit card security is a high priority, we have taken numerous steps to ensure your payment information is processed confidentially, accurately, and securely.
