Emergency Relief Stories

  • Lana-Thumbnail
    Lana - Lana was severely malnourished and weak when she arrived at Beauty's Haven Farm and Equine Rescue in Florida in July 2010.
  • Helping Victims of the Storms - The spring of 2011 brought record flooding and tornados to the Midwest, Midsouth and southern portions of the United States. As a result, PetSmart Charities® launched the largest emergency-relief deployment in its history, assisting more than 8,000 injured and displaced pets in nine states.
  • Xena and Brownie
    Xena and Brownie - In November 2009, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals – Laurentides-Labelle (SPCA LL) in Quebec rescued 97 sled dogs from the woods in the Upper Laurentians.
  • Phoenix Rabbit Rescue
    Rabbit Rescue by Tranquility Trail Animal Sanctuary - Recently, the Tranquility Trail Animal Sanctuary in Scottsdale, Ariz., was contacted about a situation in Phoenix where more than 100 bunnies, including numerous pregnant females, were found in burrows, trying to escape the blazing summer heat.
  • Chester_Thumb
    Chester - Chester, an orange tabby cat, arrived at the Dane County Humane Society (DCHS) shelter in Madison, Wis. on May 2, 2009 as part of the Richland County Sheriff’s Department seizure of animals at the Thyme and Sage Ranch in Cazenovia, Wis.
