PetSmart Charities® Holds Broadview Community Adoption Event
PHOENIX (June 7, 2011) —PHOENIX – PetSmart Charities will host a community adoption event with the goal of saving more than 50 pets in Broadview, Ill. on June 11, 2011. The Broadview community adoption event will be held at the PetSmart store located at 500 Broadview Village Square in partnership with Animal Welfare League.
The event is part of 30 community adoption events PetSmart Charities is holding with its local animal rescue agency partners in cities across the United States and Canada throughout 2011. Last year, PetSmart Charities held 21 community adoption events that cumulatively saved the lives of 3,517 pets.
“We are really excited about partnering with PetSmart Charities for this event and hope that it not only brings attention to the pets who need homes, but also to our facility,” said Terri Sparks, marketing and public relations manager at Animal Welfare League. “This will be a family event, with lots of activities and educational opportunities along with cats, dogs and rabbits who are looking for homes.”
An estimated 6 to 8 million dogs and cats enter animal shelters in the U.S. each year, but approximately 4 million never find homes. PetSmart Charities strives to bring attention to the availability of pets at shelters and rescue groups and to the benefits of pet adoption.
Proudly sponsored by Purina® Pro Plan® and Tidy Cats®, the Broadview community adoption event will raise awareness for pets available to adopt in the local community and provide Animal Welfare League with a venue to showcase them. In every location where a community adoption event will be held, adoption agencies will also receive increased adoption rewards from PetSmart Charities for every pet adopted.
