PetSmart Charities® Holds Midlothian Community Adoption Event
PHOENIX (June 6, 2011) —PHOENIX – PetSmart Charities will host a community adoption event with the goal of saving more than 50 pets in Midlothian, Va. on June 11-12, 2011. The Midlothian community adoption event will be held at the PetSmart store located at 12264 Chattanooga Plaza in partnership with the Metro Richmond Pet Savers.
The event is part of 30 community adoption events PetSmart Charities is holding with its local animal rescue agency partners in cities across the United States and Canada throughout 2011. Last year, PetSmart Charities held 21 community adoption events that cumulatively saved the lives of 3,517 pets.

An estimated 6 to 8 million dogs and cats enter animal shelters in the U.S. each year, but approximately 4 million never find homes. PetSmart Charities strives to bring attention to the availability of pets at shelters and rescue groups and to the benefits of pet adoption.
Proudly sponsored by Purina® Pro Plan® and Tidy Cats®, the Midlothian community adoption event will raise awareness for pets available to adopt in the local community and provide the Richmond Animal League with a venue to showcase them. In every location where a community adoption event will be held, adoption agencies will also receive increased adoption rewards from PetSmart Charities for every pet adopted.
