Emergency Relief Waggin'® Vehicle Deployed to North Florida
More Than 650 Cats Seized from a Cat Sanctuary
PHOENIX (June 8, 2011) —PetSmart Charities® has dispatched one of its Emergency Relief Waggin' vehicles to the scene of the largest all-cat rescue in PetSmart Charities' history. More than 650 cats were seized from a cat sanctuary in Alachua County, Florida, near Gainesville. The criminal investigation will now focus on animal neglect and cruelty.
The 53-foot Emergency Relief Waggin’ vehicle was stocked with 16-tons of cargo worth $80,000, and was dispatched from DC36 in Ottawa, Illinois. The vehicle contained critical supplies, including pet food, wire crates, plastic carriers, bowls, collars, fans, generators, battery chargers and lights to aid the animal rescuers on scene.
