Anderson County Humane Society and PetSmart Charities® Team Up to Offer Free Sterilizations for Dogs and Cats Living in the 29655 Zip Code
May 1, 2012
The Anderson County Humane Society, located at 407 Pearman Dairy Road in Anderson, SC, will be offering over 500 free dog and cat sterilizations for any pet living in the 29655 zip code area, thanks to a $27,020 grant from PetSmart Charities®. Residents living in the 29655 zip code area (Iva Community) can call (864) 367-7220 to make an appointment for one of the free pet sterilizations.
“Thanks to a joint effort between the Anderson County Humane Society, PetSmart Charities, and Anderson County we now have a grant that will help with spay/neuter for companion pets of residents of the Iva community,” says Wanda Crane, Director of the Anderson County Humane Society’s Spay and Neuter Clinic. “While the grant monies last, you can get the surgery done and get your animal's vaccines at the clinic. We really want to see pet owners in the 29655 Iva zip code take advantage of these free surgeries to help reduce the pet population in the target area. We here at the clinic are so appreciative of PetSmart Charities as well as the Anderson County Government for their assistance in preparing the grant application.”
“A very important aspect of this project is that we will be able to offer transportation services to and from the clinic for pets with owners who lack access to vehicles or have mobility issues,” says Crane. “A portion of the funding from PetSmart Charities will allow us to provide pick-up and delivery of pets in the Iva area that are scheduled for these free spay/neuter surgeries.”
The Anderson Humane Society is a 501(c)3 organization that relies on grant funding and donations to offer free to low-cost sterilization services for pet owners in the community. For more information, call (864) 367-7220.
