The Baldwin County Humane Society (BARC!)  is offering  $7 dog and cat sterilizations for any pet living in the 36507 zip code area, thanks to a $55,000 grant from PetSmart Charities® titled “They can’t read or write, but they sure can multiply.”

Residents living in Bay Minette and who make less than $30,000 annually can purchase the $7 vouchers from the Bay Minette Animal Clinic, North Baldwin Animal Shelter in Bay Minette and the BARC! office in downtown Fairhope during normal business hours.

People will need to bring documents to prove residency in zip code 36507 and income less than $30,000 to qualify to purchase the $7 spay/neuter vouchers.  There is no limit to the number of dogs and cats a person can get fixed.

Spay/neuter surgeries will be performed by Dr. Palmer and Dr. Knight at Bay Minette Animal Clinic, Dr. Finlay at Biles Animal Hospital in Bay Minette and select other Baldwin County veterinarians.

“This is a really good offer and one that will end when the grant monies run out,” says Sonja Presley, BARC! Executive Director. “We really want to see pet owners in 36507 take advantage of these $7 spay/neuter surgeries to help reduce the pet population in Bay Minette.”

"With dedicated focus and a plan like the Baldwin County Humane Society’s, we are able to make strides toward helping end homeless-pet overpopulation," said Susana Della Maddalena, vice president and executive director of PetSmart Charities, Inc. "Successful, low-cost spay/neuter programs like this one are so valuable to local communities, and PetSmart Charities is proud to be able to support these life-saving initiatives."

BARC! is a 501(c)3 organization that relies on grant funding and donations to offer low-cost sterilization services to 2,000 pet owners annually in Baldwin County. For more information, call 251.928.4585 or visit www.BaldwinHumane.org.
