Georgia Animal Project Receives $8,860 Grant from PetSmart Charities® to Spay and Neuter 154 Cats/Kittens in Waleska, GA
October 12, 2011
Georgia Animal Project received an $8,860 grant from PetSmart Charities® to increase feline spay/neuter surgeries by at least 55 percent in Cherokee County’s 30183 zip code. The organization’s research indicates that a disproportionately high percentage of cats arriving at the local animal shelter come from the Waleska area. In proactively combating this area’s homeless-pet overpopulation, Georgia Animal Project will save lives by reducing intakes into already overcrowded local shelters and rescues.
The program offers free spay/neuter services for cats and kittens in the 30183 zip code from the organization’s convenient location in downtown Ball Ground. Georgia Animal Project’s overall goal is to reduce the homeless-pet overpopulation in Cherokee County by 50 percent over the next 5 years.
To schedule your cat or kitten, go to www.theanimalproject.org. Georgia Animal Project also provides high quality, low-cost spay or neuter services for dogs and cats outside the Waleska area.
“The adoption of homeless companion animals, though it remains the most ethical way to add a dog or cat to your family, is just a temporary solution. Reducing the need to place these animals should be the goal of every community”. Cindy Foster- Director, Georgia Animal Project
Georgia Animal Project's mission is to reduce animal suffering and confront companion-animal overpopulation by directly subsidizing spay and neuter costs through high quality, low-cost clinics and effective education programs for the public.
