It's Ernie!

Rescue Waggin'® Program's 5th Anniversary Celebrates the 25,000th Dog Transported by a Rescue Waggin' Vehicle

To celebrate the Rescue Waggin' program's 5th anniversary, a summit and celebration for program partners and the media takes places May 7-8 in St. Louis, Mo.

On hand at the celebration will be Ernie with his new Pet Parents. Ernie is a Basset Hound mix and the 25,000th dog to take 'the ride of his life' on a PetSmart Charities® Rescue Waggin' vehicle.

Ernie's journey began in Fayetteville, Tenn., where he was surrendered to the local shelter. For nearly four weeks he waited – but no one expressed any interest in adopting him. As the shelter filled up with other homeless dogs, space to house Ernie began to slip away. Luckily, the Fayetteville/Lincoln Animal Shelter had joined the Rescue Waggin’ program so dogs and puppies in need of homes, but out of time, could get a second chance.
