Ashley R. Dobbs is the Director of the Intellectual Property and Transactional Law Clinic and a clinical law professor at the University of Richmond School of Law. Prior to joining the law school faculty, Ms. Dobbs was in private practice for ten years, most recently a shareholder with Bean, Kinney, Korman, PC.  Prior to law school, Ms. Dobbs was a consultant, advising Fortune 500 companies on strategic planning, brand marketing, business process improvement and employee communication.

 

An active animal rescue volunteer and former pet service provider, Ms. Dobbs is committed to addressing animal welfare issues through the legal system. Ms. Dobbs serves as the faculty advisor for the student animal law society at Richmond Law and as a vice chair for the American Bar Association’s Animal Law Section. She drafted proposed legislation regarding pet trusts with the Humane Society Legislative Fund. She worked with Animal Welfare Institute and HSUS to update a guide to animal shelter and care resources for victims of domestic violence; interned for Richmond’s Animal Abuse Prosecutor; and organized programs addressing the connection between domestic violence and animal cruelty. Ms. Dobbs has provided pro bono assistance to the Jane Goodall Institute, the Doris Day Animal Foundation, and numerous animal shelters and rescue organizations.
