Why Adopted Pets Are the Best

Wednesday, April 1, 2015

We know that adopted pets are the best, but what makes them so special? We asked our Facebook fans to share why they love adopted pets along with a photo of their 4-legged fur ball. Here are some of our favorites.

Ruby Sue

“This is Ruby Sue. We adopted her from Capital Area Humane Society in Lansing, Michigan, in August 2013. She came all of the way from a shelter in Picayune, Mississippi, via the PetSmart Charities Rescue Waggin’. We love adopted pets because they are so loving and give us so much happiness each day.”

- Michelle B.

Georgie

“I’ve been rescuing kitties since I turned 18 and got my first apartment. Rescues are so loving and appreciative. This is Georgie. I rescued him out of the river, where someone dumped him when he was only a few weeks old. He will be 23 this May! Still healthy, happy and going strong.”

- Cindy H.

Ariel

“Our Ariel rescued us as much as we rescued her…probably more.”

- Jody T.

Simon

“My sweet Simon was adopted from Maricopa County Animal Care & Control in Arizona in 2008. Adopted pets know they have been given a second chance at life, and each one deserves to lounge the day away knowing they are forever loved, safe and a true member of the family.”

- Valerie M.

Sparky

“My rescue dog chose us the day we rescued him. He has been a playful and happy little guy from day one. He greets me at the door, and he is my protector. I could go on and on about my baby, but all the awesome memories and good times my baby has brought to our lives is bringing tears to my eyes. Momma loves you Sparky!”

- Terra L.

bat cat

“I love adopted pets! No matter what hardships they have faced, no matter if people were cruel to them or didn’t love them enough, they do love unconditionally. It is truly amazing to have an instinct to love and trust unconditionally. What a world we would live in if we demonstrated the same.”

- Christie W.

Toby

This is Toby. He is my baby. He has had my heart since the first time I heard him call me “Woof.” He is silly, sweet and the best fur baby cuddle bug. I love adopting because you bring home a piece of your heart that had been missing.

- Julie L.

Christmas cat

“Adopted pets have so much love to give, because they finally get to know what it feels like to be loved.”

- Lisa Swallow

white husky dog

“Adopted souls choose you, and not the other way around. This creates a love unlike any other.”

- Burger M.
