Targeted Spay/Neuter Grant Kickstarts Major Changes in Albuquerque

In 2008, Animal Humane New Mexico applied for a PetSmart Charities grant. Little did they know that they had planted a seed for major change in Albuquerque.

As a private animal welfare organization in Albuquerque, Animal Humane New Mexico takes in about 5,000 dogs and cats each year. They're also one of the more innovative animal welfare organizations in the country for two reasons: they run a targeted spay/neuter program and participate in Albuquerque's Community Cats Program, run by Best Friends Animal Society and PetSmart Charities®.
