R. Christine Hershey is the president and founder of Hershey Cause Communications, guiding its overall strategic and creative vision. Passionate about “Communications for Good,” she has been consulting regularly with CEOs and senior executives in the corporate and philanthropic sectors advising on positioning, identity and strategy for over 39 years.


As an author and cause communications expert, Chris has appeared in the Stanford Social Innovation Review, The New York Times and The Chronicle of Philanthropy. Chris has published a series of books to help educate the philanthropic sector including, Why Bad Ads Happen to Good Causes, The Communications Toolkit and 2-Minute Answer Guide for Nonprofits.


Chris sits on the National Board of PetSmart Charities, and is active on the regional Board of Southern California Grantmakers. She is committed to improving life in the Southern California Region and is past chair of the board of Para Los Niños, as well as past chair of the National Association of Women Business Owners, Los Angeles (NAWBO-LA) Foundation.



She is a founding member of the National Network of Consultants to Grantmakers (NNCG), serves on the board of The R. Scott Hitt Foundation and was appointed to the Los Angeles County “Arts for All” Executive Committee.
